C:\ Drive filling up? Clean your Hard Drive 'Effortlessly'

There comes a time when you get fed up of your computer when it shows you that you are getting out of space when what you do is just carry out normal tasks which are required daily. Mess around on the internet. Watch a few videos, some pictures, listen to some songs, etc. (BTW the new J-Lo album is good !) So the question arises, How ?
So I needed to clean the things up on my C drive and was trying to find what was taking so much space. After a little digging, I found out this old but wonderful tool named WinDirSoft which helped a lot in that. 

How can the software help you

This software helped me find some movies in the temp folder which were kept there by the Video converting software. Also some temporary files from the internet. Some unfinished downloads. A big temporary file. So unused system videos which filled up my C drive.
Now getting to the point, how does this software help us. It scans all the files on the drives we have selected and gives a very detailed info on them. Moreover it even shows a graphical representation of the disk in a very nice manner which you will find extraordinarily convenient. Here is just a little tutorial on using it. -

Tutorial

1. Go to this link and download the software - WinDirStat

(Note - this one is the Windows version, other versions can be found here)

2. Once downloaded, install it and run it. 

(Note the software was made in 2003, that's like 10 years before, so bear with old look, the app on the other hand works flawlessly)

3. When the splash screen appears asking which drive you want to open, select the one you want to go with. 

4. Now let the thing scan each and every file. Once it is done, it will come up with something like this 

Here you can see that it has scanned one of my drives. Now this drive contains my games. 

Now the below graph depicts the size of the files in ratio to the entire data on the drive. Also it gives different colors to different types of files. 

Like I have highlighted the file 'pack0.dzip' here which was inside the Game - Witcher 2 (A Difficult game, gets my nerves on every time !). It is around 9 GB. So what the software is doing is that it is showing that my drive contains this big sized files and gives me its details. 

Also the blue ones are my movies, it shows them in Blue, this then becomes very easy to find and locate big files taking up your space. 

I recommend this software for everyone out there trying to solve this sort of problem.
