How To Schedule a Program in Windows on a Specific Time

| | Leave a Comment
There might be times when you need to have an application opened at a specific time. But unfortunately you might not be on your computer or near it to start it. An example of this would be starting an download manager to download any particular file. But you might be sleeping or taking a dump. No need to worry. As Windows itself has a feature of enabling any program to run at any specific time you want. Here is tutorial on it. Hope you enjoy it.

Tutorial -

1. There is no need to download any 3rd party software for this. The software is included in Windows itself. It is called Windows Task Scheduler.

2. To open it, First open the Control Panel. There click on System and Security. Inside it you will find the last option as Administrative Tools. Open it and then a folder will be opened with a lot of  shortcuts. Inside them, you will find Task Scheduler. Open it.

3. Click on - Create Basic Task. A wizard opens up. Enter the name for your Task there. I am entering the name as VLC because I plan to open it.

4. Select the frequency when the application should start.

5. Enter the time and date the task should be triggered.

6. Select the option Start a Program here.

7. Here locate the Program you want to run. The program can also be a shortcut of that program. Most of the programs will be installed here by default - C:\Program Files
In my case, I am adding VLC.exe to it so that the application starts.

8. Now lastly, press the Finish button to complete the task.

This way you have made a task which trigger a computer program at a certain time of your choice. It never fails to do so and his very useful at times.
