Windows 8 came out with the opportunity of having a set of standalone apps to run with the Metro UI. However these might be a little pain in the a$$ because of their anomaly (Microsoft doesn't consider it an anomaly, but still we do) of not having the option to close on them itself. Also it makes us difficult to multitask between 2 programs. Thanks to Stardock, this can be over comed by using a program called Stardock ModernMix.
First of all go ahead and download the software off from here. Now install it accordingly. The steps are easy. Its the way Stardock keeps them.
The program has the following features -
- Run Metro Apps in Windows 8 desktop (Well, duh ! -_- )
- Apply one custom setting for the size.
- Pin them on the taskbar so you can directly access them than going to the Metro UI start screen.
How can the App be useful ?
I can imagine a certain situations where it would be really useful. Now if we take a look at the Metro Apps we can see that these are made with a better looking UI and nicely designed and good looking layout. We don't get there normally in Windows applications. There are some exceptions like Skype but trust me they are very less. So if we consider this then we are getting the looks of those applications on the desktop where we can handle apps of the same category, i.e. Metro apps simultaneously. I think its a great option for that.
