Operate VLC using Comand Prompt [CMD]

| | Leave a Comment

Command Prompt or as we call it Command Prompt is something which fascinates us Geeks. The black and white UI (not in case if you have changed the colors), the operating based just on simply typing. It somewhat makes us feel better about our own selves in computing. I have tried using it for many purposes like deleting and making folders and pretty much the easy stuff. But it is, in fact a very powerful tool to use. Prior to visually good looking Operating Systems like Windows, Mac and Linux there was a time when DOS was used to operate the entire system. Basically it was used by our ancestors.
So getting further, everyone must be happily using their VLC media players without much problem. The player is practically there on everyone's computer.

Tutorial

(Its actually very easy but still going there in a few points to make it simple as possible.)

1. Open VLC player (Duh ! )

2. Now press on 'View'

3. In the menu press on the sub-menu 'Add Interface' and select 'Console'.

4. You're done. That's it, piece of a cake !

Here's a image in case you wondered where it is exactly. -

What can be done with this ?

Well basically you can operate the thing using different commands which can entered via typing. These include opening a file, making a playlist, next, previous, make the thing faster, slower hell you can even add subtitles through this.

How will I get to know the keywords for this ?

Just type 'help' to get the list of all the functions you might need. Other than that you don't need to do a Ph.D. to get the thing working.
